Week 5 My Sexy Saturday @donna_michaels #MySexySaturday

The fun continues!

Each Saturday at My Sexy Saturday...expect to have your senses titillated with hot writing, tame to sensual to explicit, from a bunch of great authors. One does not always have to take their clothes off for something to be sexy. Everyone has their own idea of sexy. Each author will post 7 paragraphs or 7 sentences or 7 words of sexiness from a WIP, current release, backlist...etc. You get the idea.

This week, since it's getting close to the Fourth of July, I feel the need to honor my red, white and blue veterans, Finn and Cammie:

I'm choosing to post 7 sentences from COWBOY-SEXY:

“What the hell are you doing in my room,” he demanded, wearing nothing but a towel.
Lucky towel.  Her suspicions had been correct. Cowboy-sexy had a great body. An incredible body. Dang. He was all muscles and ridges.

She’d seen his twin shirtless many times. Her whole unit had worked out together in the dessert gym they had set up to kill time between missions. Where Brett was broad and somewhat pumped, Finn was lean and hard, not just from a machine but by a working man’s routine.

Unable to stop herself, Cammie let her gaze travel over the towel and down his leg, noting purplish brown scars shooting up just above the towel near his right hip and jutting out below the towel to his right knee.

She recalled her C.O.’s stricken expression when he had gotten the call about his brother and an explosion in Baghdad.

“Well? I asked you what you’re doing in my room.”

Despite knowing cowboy-sexy was waiting for a reply, Cammie felt she owed it to the female population of the world to take another ten seconds and run her gaze back up his incredibly fit form.

RomCon Dish

Well, despite a not so great return trip from RomCon, I had a blast!

Meeting up with readers and authors and bloggers was really a treat for me. So nice to be surrounded by people who understood my mindset. Mingling with kindred spirits is something every author and reader needs once in awhile.

I was thrilled to be a part of the Cowboy Corral where we hosted a fun little party, complete with giveaways and a handsome cowboy willing to pose his hat off for all the guests. At the end, we corralled him for a shot with all the hosts.

The Cowboy Crew: Paty Jager, Lorelei James, Randi Alexander, Helen Hardt, Cynthia Woolf and myself surrounding our good sport of a cowboy! He stood and took pictures with all the attendees without once complaining.

The next day, at my designated book signing, I was lucky to sit next to the very gracious YA/NA New York Times Best Selling Author Jamie McGuire. She gave away a ton of books and signed each and every one, plus those that her fans brought along. Her hand had to be tired but she never once complained and happily posed for picture after picture.

Speaking of pictures, it was there that I spotted fitness model Gary Taylor. He was such a sweetheart. When I asked if I could take his picture he said, "Sure, as long as you're in it." So that's how I ended up in this photo.
I'm the poster child for non-photogenic specimens...lol but I accepted his terms and was happy to have had the chance to thank Gary and ask him to continue to post encouraging messages to young women about how they should be treated by men. I especially love his 'Keep it Classy' T-shirts! Well done, Gary!

My contemporary time-shift--CAPTIVE HERO--was a finalist in the Reader's Crown Awards! It was thrilling to be nominated among such wonderful authors!

Vegas night was a blast. Hosted by my publisher, we had a wonderful time giving away prizes, and then whiling away a few hours at a blackjack table playing with their chips. My roommate, Donna Dalton and I (we were known to all as the Double D's...lol) had way too much fun increasing our chips despite it being our first time playing!

So, now that that conference is over, it's time to get ready for the first annual RNConvention in Las Vegas, baby! Hope to see some of you there in August!

Week 4 My Sexy Saturday @donna_michaels #MySexySaturday

Hi, everyone! I'm AWOL in Colorado at ROMCON, but made sure to leave you all a sexy little snippet from Cole, one of my cowboys...

Each Saturday at My Sexy Saturday...expect to have your senses titillated with hot writing, tame to sensual to explicit, from authors near and far. One does not always have to take their clothes off for something to be sexy. Everyone has their own idea of sexy. Each author will post 7 paragraphs or 7 sentences or 7 words of sexiness from a WIP, current release, backlist...etc. You get the idea.

This week, I'm sharing a little teaser from Book 1 of my Harland County Series...Unruly cowboys and the women who tame them. Today's goody is from:
HER FATED COWBOY

Cole is my guilt-ridden, widowed, computer software CEO/cowboy (phew, that's a mouthful...but then again, so is he). The poor guy has his hands full when his visiting former neighbor (she's also a former cop) sets out to delete the firewall around his heart. He discovers there's no protection against the Jordan virus.

Available at Amazon:

Enthralled, he stared wide-eyed at the wavy tresses sliding through his fingers. Her chest swelled with a heady dose of triumph, and she glorified at being the woman responsible for his mesmerized expression. About damn time.  She smiled, until he lifted his gaze. All the oxygen she just managed to put into her lungs dissipated by the raw need in his eyes.

“You’re so beautiful, Jordan.”

Emotions burned her throat.

“Hey, don’t cry.” He brushed away an escaped tear. “You haven’t even seen the feast I asked Emma to create.”

His mischievous gleam had her beyond curious. Hand-in-hand he led her to the table. When he lifted the silver lid off the dish, she laughed at the plate of freshly baked chocolate chip cookies awaiting their demise.

“Oh Cole. You don’t play fair, do you?”

He smiled, bringing one of the warm morsels to her lips. “Nope.”

Week 3 My Sexy Saturday @donna_michaels #MySexySaturday

I've joined in on the fun, again!

This week, I'm sharing a snippet from my contemporary time-shift: CAPTIVE HERO (Time-shift Heroes Series-Book One), a finalist in the 2012 RONE Awards for Best Time Travel.

The fierce longing darkening his eyes kicked her pulse clean into orbit. Shit.

“Y-you’re going to…”

“Kiss you.” A deliciously wicked grin spread across his lips. He cupped her face and drew close. “Yes, Samantha, I am.”

Anticipation trembled through her as she palmed his chest in a last ditch effort to interject some sanity. “I’m not sure that’s a good idea.”

“I think it’s a great idea,” he said against her lips before pressing her into the cushions and kissing her long and deep.

He tasted of whiskey and hot…so very hot. She was hot. They were roasting. A half moan, half whimper…a mimper…a woan...rumbled in her throat. She hadn’t realized how much she wanted the connection, needed the connection until that very moment.

With a hand in her hair, Mitch tipped her head, deepening the kiss, his tongue slipping into her mouth while his other hand slowly glided down her side to settle on her hip.

All coherent thought, their situation, the cabin, time… everything faded away except for the wild pounding of her heart.

Only too happy to reciprocate, she moved a hand around his back and the other up into his hair, pressing against his hard body as their tongues intertwined. The kiss was a wonderful idea. Incredible idea. Best damn idea since space travel.

Too bad the timing sucked.

With great reluctance and a heavy dose of common sense, Sam broke away and drew in a huge amount of air. That helped, but not much. Now he was kissing a path down her throat, sending shiver after shiver straight to her toes. The grip he had on her hip loosened and his fingers slipped under her shirt to lightly stroke the skin below her bra, his thumb brushing the underside of her breast.

Oh, sweet mercy.  Did she really have to make him stop?

Week 2 My Sexy Saturday @donna_michaels #MySexySaturday

I've joined in on the fun!

This week, since I do happen to have a brand new release: Book 2 in my Harland County Series, I'm choosing to post 7 sentences from HER UNBRIDLED COWBOY:

As soon as the doors closed behind them, Connor gently shoved her into the nearby pantry and shut the door. Before she could ask what was wrong, he had her up against the wall, bodies pressed tight, mouth on hers in a hungry, demanding kiss.

All thoughts of anxiety, lunch and the people in the other room shot from her mind as heat and need took over. Dang, the cowboy can kiss. She clutched him, her knees buckling, moan low in her throat as she rocked into him.
He broke the kiss and buried his face in her hair. “God, I thought about doing that all week.”

**FREE** Last day! HER UNBRIDLED COWBOY **FREE**

Today is the last day to get the 2nd book in my Harland County Cowboy series for FREE!

Already has two 5 Star Amazon Reviews

Blurb:

Homeless and unemployed thanks to an earthquake, divorced California chef Kerri Masters agrees to head back to her hometown to help plan her sister’s Texas wedding.  It must be her weakened state that has her eyeing the neighbor she used to follow around as a child. Her tastes tend towards gentlemen in suits, cultured, and neatly groomed— not a dimple-glaring, giant of a cowboy. He’s big and virile, and makes her want things the inadequacies brought out during her divorce keep her from carrying out.

Connor McCall’s brotherly feelings for the pesky former neighbor disappear when the grown up version steps on his ranch in her fancy clothes and shiny heels. Too bad she’s a city girl, because he has no use for them. Three times he tried to marry one, and three times the engagements failed. He’s not looking for number four no matter how much his body is all for jumping back in the saddle and showing the sexy chef just how it feels to be loved by a cowboy.
Turns out the earthquake was nothing compared to the passionate, force of nature of an unbridled cowboy, and Kerri learns far more about herself, and Connor, than she ever expected.  But when events put his trust in her on the line, will he choose his heart or his pride?
Excerpt:
Alex McCall chimed in, draping an arm around his petite wife. “No one’s more stubborn than our boys.”
Whatever it was, Kerri would be forever grateful for whatever caused her sister to hit the pavement at that exact moment. And she had to admit, now she was just a tad envious, too. Envious that her sister had found such a strong love twice in her life, while she couldn’t find it even once. All she’d managed was a disastrous marriage that had left her hurt, confused and divorced, doubting there were any good men left in the world.
“That’s not entirely true.” A deep baritone with a hint of humor cut through the room, captivating the air into a silence of unadulterated anticipation, and sent her heart tail-spinning into her ribs, until she looked up and realized he was talking to his father.
Still, the captivation part was typical Connor McCall fashion.
There wasn’t an unattached female in the tri-county area safe from his sex appeal. That’s why Kerri kept her gaze glued to the worn-out sole of his left boot. She knew her place. He was way out of her league. She was under no illusion as to where she stood against such a virile man. Heck, she didn’t even qualify to kiss the sole of his worn-out left boot. But that’s where her gaze remained. Much safer than traveling upward.
She hadn’t really said more than a quick hello. He’d headed to the stables shortly after they’d arrived, and she’d happily retreated to her room to regroup. To summon strength, because she was a vulnerable mess at the moment. If she could just gather some willpower, even just a smidge, in order to resist the gorgeous cowboy…because heck, he made her feel things she had no business feeling. Cripes, she was desperate. Had to be if she was stupid enough to let herself feel something for someone like him. He was too raw, too manly.
Yes, staring at Connor’s boot was about all she could handle at the moment. Anything higher…
Heat shot through her body, settling in her face and other parts further south. Parts that liked to be called good, but she preferred to call them closed for the season. No way could she allow her gaze to take in the whole man. Jeez, the toned scenery of his northern terrain could make a girl want to get lost. And stay lost. Forever. Connor McCall sported a very sexy landscape restricted for equally sexy women…of which she was not.
The reality of those words hit her with the force of an icy, cold blast. She blinked until his boot came back into focus.
“There is someone more stubborn than us,” he continued, that darn sexy drawl sending shivers to her toes, while an unwelcomed heat pooled low in her belly.
And she’d only just cooled off.
“Who?” his father asked.
Jordan,” came Connor’s humorous reply.
Laughter filled the room. No one would argue the fact. Once her sister made up her mind about anything, she didn’t let go. Kerri laughed, too. When the cowboy was right, he was right.
Smiling, she lifted her head, intending to snicker at her sister but…dang, it wasn’t her sister who filled her view.
Tall, broad shoulders and chest, muscles bulging out from under his red, rolled up sleeves, brown hair, dancing brown eyes and those darn dimples…six-foot-four-inches of Texas testosterone. The equivalent of saturated fat. Tasted good but wasn’t good for you.
Granted, she’d only had a little taste when he’d briefly kissed her at her parent’s anniversary party back in September. But it had been enough for Kerri to scratch him off her menu—permanently. That small sampling promised to be as delicious as a fresh from the oven cannoli dipped in chocolate. How could she stop at just one? She couldn’t, hence the permanent scratching off part.
Besides, she preferred men with class, who’d pick her up for a date wearing a suit and enjoyed the fine arts. Not a brash, long-haired cowboy whose favorite pastime was teasing and never took anything serious. One who thought dressing up was donning a new pair of jeans. Whose idea of culture was the black velvet painting of a pack of poker playing, cigar smoking, bulldogs hanging in his office.
A smirk hovered on her lips, while her gaze traveled up the tall Texan. Maybe she’d gotten this all wrong. Maybe he was out of her league…
